Hook Inspiration
Hook Top Woods
While we offer a variety of wood options for the body of each hook, our hook top (the portion with the neck and head) options are limited to maple, light roasted maple, dark roasted maple, and cherry. These are woods we've found work best for strength and smoothness, making them a perfect fit for your yarn.
Hook Body Woods
We have a small selection of woods that are always available for our custom crochet hooks - these are woods that are tried and true, and are easily accessible to us (so we usually have them in our workshop!). That being said, if we add special wood options now and then. If you're looking for something specific you don't see listed on our order page, email us at knitbrooks@gmail.com and we'll see what we can do.
Driftwood Bottoms
There's something special about crocheting with a hook that has a piece of driftwood incorporated into the handle. The ocean does a great job of shaping and smoothing wood into a variety of shapes, so every piece of driftwood is totally unique.
The driftwood in our hooks range from simple and straight, to gnarly and curved. Each piece is thoughtfully positioned so the hook still sits comfortably in a hand. In order to best create a hook that will be comfortable for you, please let us know what general shape you're hoping for. For example, if you're left handed we can select a piece of driftwood that curves in the proper direction. Maybe you want the funkiest, chunkiest, weirdest piece of driftwood we can find...or perhaps a plain straight piece is more your style. We're happy to find a piece of driftwood that brings your vision to life!
